Andrew Benjamin (philosopher and Professor of Critical Theory at Monash University, Melbourne) draws the first lines of what he calls a software philosophy and the necessity to build a framework in digital processes. His concerns over the present dictated by software and the material representation mediated by computation led him to distill some types in current architectural practices and identifies the effect potential within space, program and material carried by the surface through a history of the surface.
